ESPN's Desmond Howard: Texas Will Win The Big 12 This Season

In the minds of many, this is supposed to be a transitional year for the Texas football team. Charlie Strong has kicked a few players out of his program as he attempts to fill the Longhorns with players that best represent what he wants in a college athlete. Texas is unranked in the preseason AP Poll and No. 24 in the Coaches Poll.

Desmond Howard has a different plan for Strong's first season at the helm of the Texas program.

The ESPN analyst predicted on the "Season Preview" episode of "College GameDay" that the Longhorns will win the Big 12 this season.

Texas, which last won the Big 12 in 2009, would be an extremely surprising champion this season. Oklahoma, ranked No. 3 in both the preseason polls, is the favorite. Baylor and Kansas State are both thought of more highly than the Longhorns by the pollsters, too.
