A former top quarterback recruit is set to leave his college football program after just one year with the team. According to the transfer portal, Texas freshman quarterback Cameron Rising will transfer from the Longhorns.

Rising was a four-star quarterback recruit from California. He flipped from Oklahoma to Texas late in the recruiting process and now looks to be on the move.

Rising's name popped up in the transfer portal, which took a few by surprise. He has yet to announce the news himself.

Rising was the No. 11 pro-style quarterback in the 2017 class. He currently sits behind Shane Buechele and Sam Ehlinger on the depth chart and was locked in a battle with fellow four-star 2017 QB recruit Casey Thompson as well.

Rising is just the latest top quarterback to hit the transfer market after Georgia star Justin Fields put his name in the ring earlier this week.

It will be interesting to see where Rising takes his talents.
