Texas starting quarterback Sam Ehlinger has not played in the second half tonight against Iowa State after injuring his shoulder late in the second quarter.

It appeared that Ehlinger hurt his right shoulder on a scramble late in the first half. When the second half began, he was not on the sideline.

Shane Buechele started the third quarter for the Longhorns.

Ehlinger emerged from the locker room as the third quarter was underway and began throwing on the sideline. It looked like he might be going back in. However, the official word from Texas is that Ehlinger is still being evaluated and is "questionable" to return.

Ehlinger completed 12-of-15 passes for 137 yards and a touchdown in the first half. He also rushed for Texas' other score.

Buechele has plenty of experience, so the Longhorns are still in good shape tonight. Still, having Ehlinger healthy moving forward is crucial.

No. 15 Texas leads No. 16 Iowa State 17-3 in the third quarter on the Longhorn Network.
