The younger brother of star Texas quarterback Sam Ehlinger took to Twitter on Saturday afternoon to announce where he will play his college football. It should come as no surprise that Jake Ehlinger will follow in his older brother’s footsteps and attend the University of Texas.
Although he’s not the highly-recruited athlete his brother was, Jake isn’t backing down from the challenge of competing at the highest levels of collegiate football.
Ehlinger will likely continue his football career as a preferred walk-on for the Longhorns. As a two-star recruit, Ehlinger held just a few offers – Penn and Brown – to play football, but now he’ll link up with his brother in Austin.
“So blessed to be able to say I have officially decided to continue my academic and athletic career at The University of Texas,” Ehlinger said on Twitter.

Sam Ehlinger led the Longhorns to a 10-4 record this season and a huge upset bowl win over then-No. 5 Georgia. Now his brother will join him in Austin and have a chance to quarterback the Texas defense.
Tom Herman and company finally put together the season college football fans have been waiting for and there’s plenty for Longhorns fans to be excited about moving forward.
