Texas is adding an experience player to its linebacker corps for the 2019 season. After hosting him on a visit over the weekend, the Longhorns have added Juwan Mitchell as a commit.

Per 247's article on the commitment, Mitchell is the No. 1 JuCo inside linebacker in the class.

The site also ranks the Middletown native No. 5 in New Jersey. He spent last season at Butler Community College.

Juwan Mitchell is a full qualifier, meaning he is eligible to play right away for the Texas Longhorns.

Texas is a third commitment for Mitchell, who has been looking all over for the right program. That took him to two different Big Ten teams, before landing with UT.

From 247Sports:

Mitchell was originally committed to Rutgers, but he decommitted in January. He then made a commitment to Minnesota before making official visits to Arkansas and Texas. The Longhorns grabbed his interest immediately, and Todd Orlando was able to get him in for a visit.

UTEP was also involved in his recruitment, on top of the other schools mentioned in there.

Texas is very thin at linebacker, due to injuries and some departures. Mitchell should be able to give the Longhorn defense a lift right away.
