On Saturday morning, ESPN's College GameDay returned to the television sets across America as the 2019 college football season officially kicked off.

Before tonight's game between Miami and Florida, the GameDay crew broke down a plethora of topics.

Among those discussions this morning was which program can challenge Alabama and Clemson for a national title.

The common names that popped up were Georgia and Ohio State, but Kirk Herbstreit had a more interesting response.

He thinks the Texas Longhorns have what it takes to win a national title this season.

Earlier in the week, Herbstreit revealed his picks for the College Football Playoff.

Herbie picked Texas to win the Big 12, Alabama to win the SEC, Clemson to win the ACC and Ohio State to win the Big Ten.

In the playoff, he picked Alabama to defeat Texas and Clemson to beat Ohio State, setting up a national title game between Alabama and Clemson - again. He then has the Tide getting revenge for last year's last in the title game.

So while he thinks the Longhorns have what it takes to compete for it all this season, he clearly doesn't think they're ready just yet.

Making the College Football Playoff would be a huge step in the right direction though.
