Look: Banner Flies Above Texas' Darrel K Royal Stadium Today

The University of Texas’ school song has become a controversial topic over the past week. Students have suggested that “The Eyes of Texas" has racial overtones, which is why the band is not at the Baylor-Texas game this afternoon.

While there is plenty of pushback against the school song, Texas quarterback Sam Ehlinger isn't part of that group. He was one of the few players on the football team that decided to stand when "The Eyes of Texas" played following the Red River Showdown.

Since the Longhorns' band won't be playing "The Eyes of Texas" this afternoon, someone decided to pay for a "StandWithSam.org" banner that flew over Darrell K Royal–Texas Memorial Stadium before kickoff.

The last thing Texas needs right now is to answer more questions about this controversy, but that's probably what's going to happen now after seeing this banner.

Earlier this week, Texas head coach Tom Herman revealed how his locker room is handling this situation.

"I want to make it very clear that our coaches, not just in football, but in every sport and our administration are completely aligned," Herman said. "We've been communicating all summer in terms of the expectations of what postgame should look like and we have had very meaningful conversations with our team encouraging them to participate, but also being very, very sensitive to the plight, to the feelings, to the very individual circumstances that all of these young men are going through."

Hopefully, the entire University of Texas can get on the same page in the near future.
