One of Shaka Smart’s top recruits at VCU will now officially be following him to Texas. Four-star small forward Tevin Mack has chosen Texas over Georgia, Clemson, and others, according to Scout’s Evan Daniels.
Tevin Mack informed Scout that he has committed to Texas. Mack is ranked No. 65 overall in Scout’s 2015 top 100. Story coming.

Scout has more from Mack. As expected, the chance to play for Smart was the deciding factor.
“I chose them because I signed to play for coach Smart in the beginning,” Mack said. “I wanted to stay with him and follow him and stick with the same plan. It feels like a great fit.”
“I feel like it’s a better opportunity actually,” he added. “I think it’s a blessing from God. That was one of the my favorite programs from the beginning.”
Mack is rated as the No. 2 player from South Carolina and a top ten small forward by 247Sports‘ composite rankings.
