Lil’Jordan Humphrey’s announcement that he would be leaving Texas early to enter the 2019 NFL draft will leave quarterback Sam Ehlinger without his top receiver from 2018.
Humphrey led Texas in all major receiving categories in 2018. He had 86 receptions for 1,176 yards and nine touchdowns.
He also contributed a little bit in the run game, adding 25 yards and a touchdown on the ground.
On Thursday, Ehlinger gave his thoughts on Humphrey’s decision.
Ehlinger spoke glowingly about his former No. 1 wide receiver, expressing his belief that Humphrey will be “incredible” at the NFL level.
“He’s done so much for me and so much for the University of Texas. Although it hurts to see him go I’m really happy for him.”
Humphrey made the announcement on Tuesday that he’d be skipping his senior year to enter the NFL.

Thanks to Humphrey’s breakout season, Ehlinger also enjoyed a successful sophomore season as Texas’ starting quarterback.
Ehlinger finished the season with 3,292 passing yards, 25 touchdowns, only five interceptions, and completed 64.7-percent of his passes.
