It appears the bye week came at the perfect time for the Texas Longhorns. Star quarterback Sam Ehlinger is dealing with an injury that has limited his participation in practice.

Ehlinger is off to another excellent start for the Longhorns. Through four games he's totaled 1,237 passing yards, 15 touchdowns and only one interceptions.

The one downside for Ehlinger this season is that he's taken a few too many hits due to his workload in the running game, which might be the reason for his current health status.

According to Anwar Richardson of Rivals.com, Ehlinger is dealing with a rib injury. However, the Longhorns don't expect it to affect his status for next week's game.

Texas will face West Virginia next Saturday.

There's no question that Texas is very dependent on its quarterback. Even when star wideout Collin Johnson misses time, the offense runs smoothly because of Ehlinger.

What makes Ehlinger so special is that he can contribute in a multitude of ways. He continues to improve as a passer, he makes a plethora of plays on the ground and the team seems to rally around him.

Losing Ehlinger for any extent of time would be a brutal blow for Texas, but it sounds like he'll be ready for the team's next matchup.
