Shaka Smart Has Already Offered His First Recruit As Texas Head Coach

Update: Looks like Goodman actually confirmed the news which was originally reported by Alex Kline of The Recruit Scoop late last night.

Late last night, news broke that Shaka Smart, who had taken the VCU program to new heights during his six-year tenure, was leaving to become the head coach of Texas. Apparently Smart is wasting no time at his new post, as he's already offered his first recruit, according to ESPN's Jeff Goodman.

Vermont isn't known for being a basketball hotbed, but Brown is a 4-star recruit with offers from UConn, Indiana, Arizona State, Xavier, Michigan, Minnesota and others. Smart is known for his energy, so it's no surprise he's getting after it from the get-go in Austin.
