Texas Basketball: Which Teams Could The Longhorns Play In The First Round Of The NCAA Tournament?
Texas has taken a step forward under first-year head coach Shaka Smart, and the 20-11 Longhorns are NCAA Tournament-bound for the 25th time in the last 28 seasons.
First though, there is the matter of the Big 12 Tournament. Texas held its own in a rugged Big 12 this season, earning the No. 4 seed and a match-up with fifth-seeded Baylor in Thursday's quarterfinals. If UT wins, they will more than likely take on top-seeded Kansas in the semifinals on Friday.
When it comes to the Big Dance, two out of three experts agree on the Longhorns' seeding, as of now.
ESPN’s Bracketology: 6-seed in the Midwest playing Temple in Des Moines
CBS Sports:6-seed in the Midwest playing San Diego State in Des Moines
USA Today: 5-seed in the East playing Valparaiso in Oklahoma City
Likely Seed: Right now, betting on the Longhorns to be a 6-seed would be a solid bet. Unless...
Ceiling: Texas makes a deep run in the Big 12 Tournament. At that point, a 5-seed would be likely and even a 4 might not be out of the question.
Texas fans, how are you feeling about your team making a deep run in March? Are there any teams you do or don't want to see in the tournament?
