It will be only the second time the two teams have met on a Thursday, with the other contest back on October 3, 2013, where the Longhorns won in Ames, 31-30. Texas has actually not played a weekday game outside of Thanksgiving since November 4, 1993 when the Longhorns defeated Houston, 34-16.

Texas leads the series between the two teams, 11-2. The Longhorns were victorious in their last meeting with the Cyclones last year, winning 27-6 in Austin, Texas.
