Texas has hired a new athletic director.

Texas has hired TCU AD Chris Del Conte as its new athletic director.

Del Conte will replace Mike Perrin, who took over on as interim AD in September 2015 after Steve Patterson was fired by the university.

Del Conte, who took over at TCU in 2009, has overseen a booming TCU athletic program. The baseball team has reached the College World Series the last three seasons, and the football team has a Rose Bowl victory under its belt and made it to the Big 12 championship game this past seasons.

Del Conte also oversaw the addition of TCU to the Big 12, as well as several athletic building upgrades, including a $170 million new football stadium.

An official announcement on Del Conte's hiring is expected later today.
