Texas basketball added a major transfer piece this afternoon.
Mount St. Mary's guard Elijah Long has found his new home. He's headed to Texas.
The sophomore standout announced his decision on Twitter this afternoon. Long must sit out the 2017-18 season as per NCAA regulations and will have two years of eligibility remaining.
This season, Long averaged 15.0 points, 5.2 rebounds and 4.4 assists, leading The Mount to an NCAA Tournament berth. The 6-foot point guard also shot 38 percent from three-point range and 74 percent from the free-throw line.
Long is another player tacked on to Shaka Smart's already impressive recruiting haul. The Longhorns already have the No. 6 class in the country and could wind up landing five-star big man Mohamed Bamba before all is said and done.
