Texas QB David Ash Will Not Play This Weekend Against BYU Because Of Concussion Symptoms, Tyrone Swoopes Will Start

Texas head football coach Charlie Strong told reporters today that the team will be without the services of starting quarterback David Ash this weekend. According to Strong, Ash took a hit during the team's 38-7 victory over North Texas last weekend, and that despite showing no concussion-like symptoms during the game, he began to exhibit them after the game, and needs to be evaluated. As a precaution, former four-star recruit Tyrone Swoopes will line up at QB for the Longhorns.

Strong was unable to comment on whether this will sideline Ash for the rest of 2014. This is a scary situation for Ash, who missed most of 2013 while dealing with a concussion. Hopefully, this is nothing too serious, and Ash is able to come back healthy.

As for Swoopes, he and the Longhorns will host BYU on Sept. 6.
