Texas vs. Kansas – Game Time, TV Schedule, Line, Preview, Predictions

According to quarterback Tyrone Swoopes, the Texas Longhorns, at 1-2, still plan on making the inaugural College Football Playoff. While that's certainly a long shot, if they're to have any chance, they'll have to handle Kansas this Saturday in Lawrence. The Longhorns come into the game with a 1-2 record, having lost to BYU and UCLA in consecutive weeks earlier this year.

The Jayhawks sit at 2-1, with wins over Southeast Missouri State and Central Michigan and one ugly loss to Duke. Kansas, a perennial doormat in the Big 12, will be trying to score a huge upset when Texas comes to town.

Date: Saturday, September 27, 2014

Time: 4:00 PM EST

TV Channel: Fox Sports 1

Location: Memorial Stadium (Lawrence, KS)

Betting Line: Texas -14 via 5Dimes

Prediction: Texas is certainly down, as the rough loss to BYU proved, but it's still unlikely that Kansas winds up winning this game. If they Longhorns commit to running the ball, they should have no trouble here. The Jayhawks gave up 331 yards on the ground to Duke. Plus, you can bet that Texas will be a little emotional after watching quarterback David Ash retire from football due to concussion-related symptoms this past week.

Texas will need to utilize both Jonathan Gray and Malcolm Brown to wear down KU. If Swoopes is able to pick his spots well, the Longhorns should be able to control the clock.

We'll take Texas to win and cover the 14-point spread. That being said, this would be a monumental victory for Kansas, if it's able to pull it off.
