LSU spent a lot of time trash talking Texas entering tonight’s game in Austin. So far, the Tigers have backed it up. Longhorn fans may be nervous, and a message delivered by Tom Herman probably didn’t help matters.
LSU leads Texas 20-14 midway through the third quarter. The Longhorns are definitely in the game, and just punched in a second touchdown, but the Tigers have looked like the stronger side to this point.
At halftime, with the same score, Tom Herman gave a halftime interview, in which he said that his team “would be just fine.” His delivery of that message was less than convincing.
I hope the halftime speech sounded a little more convincing this pic.twitter.com/0GWx3fntWh

Tom Herman is often an easy target for rival fans, for one reason or another, as are the Longhorns when they struggle. That has very much been the case here.

Herman during interview: "We're gonna be just fine"
As the awkward but obvious hesitation comes out from his mouth upon interview at halftime.
ELI. ARE WE BACK? ARE. WE. BACK?
ASKING FOR ALL OF TEXAS.

Tom Herman said, “We’re gonna be just fine” after halftime and I don’t know if I’ve heard a coach more scared for his team.

If Herman’s halftime message didn’t instill confidence, the play of Sam Ehlinger might yet.
The star quarterback just led the Longhorns on a 19-play, 86 yard drive ending with him calling his own number on a two-yard plunge into the end zone.
Statistically, he’s been outplayed by Joe Burrow so far, and Texas has one healthy true running back to give him help. We’ve seen enough Ehlinger heroics through the last few seasons to know not to count him out in a game like this.
LSU-Texas is on ABC, with plenty of football to go.
