Paul Rhoads is mad -- really, really, steaming angry mad -- after his Iowa State team lost 31-30 to Texas tonight. Not only was his team frustrated by some dirty play from the Longhorns, but by the refs as well.
Late in the game, with the Cyclones leading 30-24, Johnathan Gray was stood up by the ISU defense on the goal-line, and appeared to be stripped. The ISU defender took the ball for what would have been a touchdown that essentially ended the game, but the refs blew the play dead, citing the runner down, although he clearly was still being held up (forward progress may have been stopped, but that was not the ref's explanation). On the very next play, Gray again fumbled, but the Cyclones couldn't come up with it.
It should probably be mentioned that Texas got down to the goal-line after a pass interference call on Iowa State in the endzone.
Safe to say, Rhoads, and many Iowa State fans, are furious. Rhoads just went on an absolutely epic rant in his postgame press conference -- enjoy:
Yeah, #RhoadsRage will be trending forever after that one.
