This past Thursday, Texas officially hired Shaka Smart away from VCU to replace Rick Barnes, who spent 17 season in Austin. In the days since, Smart has been on a bit of a media tour to talk about the move, along with how he plans to turn the Longhorns into an elite squad. Monday, he joined Dan Patrick to chat about his experience so far.
In the below clip, Smart talks about how he was offered the job, how he plans on succeeding at a "football school", and how he's willing to eventually develop a hatred for Oklahoma. Check it out:
Smart inherits a team that underachieved a bit this past year, so he's going to need to restore faith in the program. It sounds like he's up for the task.
