Story: In an overtime thriller, West Virginia was able to get past Texas on the road, 57-53. After trailing by 13 in the second half, the Mountaineers rallied against the Longhorns despite foul trouble for some of WVU's key players. Both teams struggled shooting, but the Mountaineers were able to get key three-point shots to fall in the late stages of the game. WVU shot 15 percent (3-of-20) from long range, while Texas shot 23.5 percent from three on 4-of-17 shooting. West Virginia had the edge in rebounding (42-37), and also used its defensive pressure to earn 11 steals on the night. Key offensive rebounding and the Longhorns' struggles from the free-throw line ended up giving the Mountaineers their first Big 12 Conference win.
