On Friday, one of the top defensive backs in the country announced his commitment. After going through the recruitment process, four-star safety Xavion Alford is joining Texas.

Texas has done an incredible job recruiting of late, which goes to show how Tom Herman has the football program back on track.

Alford held offers from a multitude of 'Power Five' programs, including a few SEC schools. Auburn, Alabama and Texas A&M were all in the mix for the talented safety.

Nonetheless, the Longhorns prevailed in the recruiting sweepstakes for Alford.

He announced his college decision on Twitter with an awesome video.

Xavion Alford is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 8 safety and No. 140 overall recruit. Recruiting analyst Gabe Brooks has compared him to All-Pro safety Eddie Jackson.

In his junior year of high school, Alford finished with 61 tackles and six interceptions. His ball skills have received praise from scouts.

With Alford on board for 2020, Texas has the No. 6 recruiting class in the country.

Herman's top commits for his 2020 recruiting class are five-star tailback Bijan Robinson and four-star athlete Ja'Quinden Jackson.

The Longhorns can use Alford in their secondary next year, especially since the team will eventually lose senior safety Brandon Jones.
