This has been a pretty impressive sports year for Texas Tech and its athletic alumni. Patrick Mahomes won the NFL MVP in his first year as starter for the Kansas City Chiefs.
Today, he is in Minneapolis to support another Red Raiders team. He and teammate Travis Kelce, a Cincinnati alumnus, were on hand to root for Chris Beard and the TTU hoops team.
The camera panned to them a number of times throughout the game, including once with about 10 seconds left. At that point it was clear that the Red Raiders were set to advance to the national title.
When Patrick Mahomes saw the camera pan to him that last time, he celebrated Texas Tech’s impending victory with a flex.
It’s an appropriate celebration for one of the more impressive runs we’ve seen in this NCAA Tournament.

Yeah, he’s excited.

He hinted at a trip to Minnesota for the Final Four last weekend, when Tech knocked off No. 1 seed Gonzaga to reach the school’s first Final Four.
It is pretty cool to see him deliver.
The Red Raiders will face another elite defensive club on Monday night for the national title. Virginia knocked off Auburn in dramatic fashion in the early Final Four game to reach the title, one year after losing to a No. 1 seed.
