RJ Hampton isn’t ready to announce where he’ll play college hoops, but the five-star recruit is down to three teams on his list.
After reclassifying from 2020 to 2019, Hampton saw interest from top programs suddenly rise. One team that remains a strong suitor for the talented swingman is Kansas.
Even though Kentucky and Duke were also displaying interest in Hampton, the No. 5 recruit in the country has taken both off his list.
According to 247Sports, Rod Hampton revealed that his son is considering Kansas, Memphis and Texas Tech.
Memphis has the No. 1 recruiting class in the country, per 247Sports. Landing Hampton would be the exclamation mark on an excellent group of incoming talent for Penny Hardaway.
On the other hand, Hampton could potentially join forces with Jalen Wilson at Kansas. The two recruits are apparently best friends.
“I’m thinking that he may visit Kansas with Jalen [Wilson],” the elder Hampton told 247Sports.
“We don’t need to visit to Kansas or Memphis, but the next couple of days he’s going to decide where Texas Tech stands,” he said. “If he’s serious about that then we’ll go visit.”
Texas Tech most likely helped its stock by making a run to the Final Four this past season. Head coach Chris Beard can use another impact player to replace Jarrett Culver.
