Texas Tech's Kliff Kingsbury Defends DeAndre Jordan's Decision To Spurn Dallas Mavericks

Last week, DeAndre Jordan's dramatic flip from the Dallas Mavericks to the Los Angeles Clippers, and all of the emoji-based Twitter fun that came with it, dominated the sports news cycle. Obviously the move made waves in Texas, and even Texas Tech head coach Kliff Kingsbury felt the need to weigh in and defend Jordan.

In an interview with KTTU-FM, Kingsbury argued that Jordan had the right to change his mind at the last minute.

“I don’t think he (made a mistake),” he said. “I think he fits in perfectly with what he does (in Los Angeles), catch alley-oops and have a couple guys that can carry you in (Blake) Griffin and Chris Paul and then Paul Pierce. He’s a great fit, he’s going to make that much money being a third guy – take it.”

While Jordan's move totally messed up Dallas' plans, we tend to agree with Kingsbury, though it should be noted that he is a San Antonio Spurs fan.
