A College Football Playoff contender just bit the dust in Stillwater. West Virginia has gone down.

Oklahoma State took a 45-41 lead with less than a minute remaining and held on to upset the No. 9 Mountaineers. Will Grier had a shot to win it on the final play of the game, but his throw was batted away.

Grier targeted his top receiver David Sills V on the play.

Oklahoma State star quarterback Taylor Cornelius hit Tyan Wallace for the game-winning score. Wallace dragged a defender into the end zone for the TD.

The loss in this game makes WVU 9-2 heading into next week's regular season finale against Oklahoma.

It also opens up the door further for the Sooners to win the Big 12 and potentially make the College Football Playoff.
