Story: Senior center Brittney Griner recorded her fifth career triple-double and first in the history as an opponent of West Virginia -- men or women's hoops.
While West Virginia struggled containing the National Player of the Year, No. 1 Baylor had a balanced attack all night. The Mountaineers battled a double-digit deficit for the majority of the game as they never led, but WVU was able to bring the lead down to eight at one point in the second half. Unfortunately for West Virginia, there was too much Griner and the Lady Bears.
In the highest attended game in West Virginia women's basketball history (13,447), the crowd was amazed by Griner's flawless technique, including some ferocious dunks in the warm-ups of this highly anticipated contest. From a reporter's perspective and current WVU student, this memory of seeing such a caliber player in Griner will always be a fond one.
