Story: Powered by senior center Deniz Kilicli's career-high 25 points, the West Virginia Mountaineers earned a much-needed win over the Texas Tech Red Raiders on Saturday afternoon.
The senior surpassed his previous career-high of 22 points after a dominating performance in the paint. WVU (13-12, 6-6 Big 12) struggled shooting from the charity stripe all game, but it was able to out-rebound TTU 37-25 in the physical battle. West Virginia shot 48.7 percent from the field, but 17 missed free throws made this game a lot closer than it could have been. The Red Raiders nearly had a chance to win the game on their last possession, but a missed 3-pointer at the buzzer gave the Mountaineers the victory. Texas Tech falls to 9-14 overall and 2-10 in the conference.
