WVU Football Scored Big On National Signing Day

A bright future?

National Signing Day certainly had its fair share of drama and excitement this week. From a kid who couldn't quite sign with Arkansas because his mom had other plans to Hoddy Toddy Ole Miss getting top players left and right, this year's NSD had a lot of memories.

For West Virginia, the recruiting class was one of the best it's had in years.

West Virginia landed quite a few junior college players, but the main story came with four-star recruit Shelton Gibson. Gibson, out of Cleveland Heights, Ohio, was one of the highest recruited wide receivers in the nation. With the offers he received, his commitment to WVU came as a bit of a surprise.

Other offers for Gibson included Kentucky, Ohio State, Tennessee, Arkansas, Auburn, Louisville, Michigan State, Nebraska, Mississippi State, NC State, Pittsburgh and more.

Another interesting recruit to keep tabs on is three-star recruit Marvin Gross out of Dunbar High School (the same high school as Tavon Austin) in Baltimore. The defensive end recorded a whopping 52 sacks in two seasons at Dunbar.

West Virginia landed a plethora of four-star guys as well. Head coach Dana Holgorsen and staff really went out to get some key guys on defense after some of the struggles of last season.

One thing is for sure -- the future looks bright in Morgantown.

Here's a video of all the WVU commitments:
