Jim Calhoun Reveals He Had Cancer Surgery, May Already Have The Coaching Itch

Hall of Famer to make a comeback?

Scoop: The big story out of Hartford today is that legendary head coach Jim Calhoun had cancer surgery last May and might be interested in coaching again if the “right situation” presented itself.

Significance: Calhoun, a three-time national champion and Naismith Hall of Fame inductee, would quickly become the top coaching candidate in the country if he decided to return. It's a long shot though.

Story: After recovering from both a fractured hip and his latest bout with cancer, Coach Calhoun is finally feeling better. Calhoun, who was in New York Monday to tape an episode of YES Network’s Center Stage program, told Michael Kay that his three recent surgeries "took a toll on my body and I was tired. Now, the energy level I feel is much different.”, and went on to say “I would never say never.” when asked about returning to coaching.
