Penn State's Offensive Coordinator A Likely Candidate For UConn Opening

UConn is looking for a new head football coach.

The Huskies announced this morning that they are relieving Bob Diaco of his duties as UConn's head football coach.

Diaco, 43, went 11-26 in three seasons.

Who will UConn be replacing him with?

Here are some of the rumored candidates.

Moorhead, 43, was an assistant at UConn from 2009-11. He then became Fordham's head coach from 2012-15 before taking the Penn State offensive coordinator job. Moorhead was the quarterback at Fordham in the early 1990s and had a short stint in the German Football League. The Nittany Lions, led by Moorhead's offense, were one of college football's biggest surprises this year. Penn State's offense ranked among the top 25 in the country in scoring, averaging more than 40 points a contest over the second half of the season. Penn State is set to play USC in the Rose Bowl on Jan. 2. Diaco's firing becomes effective after the new year. Update: According to Pat Forde, Moorhead is not interested in the job.

More to come.
