Report: Syracuse And UConn To Renew Basketball Rivalry With December Game At Madison Square Garden

Conference realigment has cost college sports fans a number of great rivalries, but one of the most heated games from the previous iteration of the Big East is back on. According to the Hartford Courant, Syracuse and UConn will face off at Madison Square Garden in New York City on December 5.

UConn and Syracuse will renew its men's basketball rivalry with a game at Madison Square Garden in New York on Dec. 5.

The schools, long-time rivals in the old Big East, have been talking about playing as nonconference opponents since Syracuse left for the ACC following the 2012-13 season. According to multiple sources, the agreement is complete, the contract in the final review process, and should be announced shortly.

According to the article, the game may lead to a longer series between the two former Big East powers. Since leaving for the ACC, Syracuse has renewed rivalries with Georgetown, St. John's, and Villanova. UConn now plays in the American Athletic Conference. The two teams met in 2015 at the Battle 4 Atlantis, a 79-76 Orange win.
