What Seed Did Providence Get In The 2014 NCAA Tournament?

Seed: For the upcoming 2014 NCAA Tournament, the Providence Friars were given an 11-seed in the East-region. They are coached by Ed Cooley and hail from Big East.

You can view the entire 2014 NCAA Tournament field here in our official bracket.

Where: They will open play against North Carolina in San Antonio on Friday.

Why: Providence finished the regular season with a 10-8 record in the Big East, tied for third place with Xavier and St. John's. The Friars were considered to be on the bubble, but they won the Big East Tournament with a victory over No. 14 Creighton to secure the league's auto-bid.

Ceiling: Truth be told, Providence was probably out of the NCAA Tournament unless it won the Big East Tournament. The Friars didn't score any notable victories in their non-conference schedule. Still, I wouldn't write them off. They knocked off a very talented Creighton squad twice, proving them can compete with the big boys. They could easily steal a victory or two this week.
