Villanova and Michigan played for the national championship of college basketball last month. They will meet again next year, this time during the regular season.

Each season, the Gavitt Games pairs Big East teams against Big Ten opponents. Villanova and Michigan have reportedly drawn each other in next season's showcase.

CBS Sports' Jon Rothstein reported the news tonight. According to him, the game will be at Villanova.

Presumably, the Wildcats will play the game at the Wells Fargo Center.

Villanova handled Michigan in San Antonio in April, winning 79-62 to capture its second national championship in three seasons.

The two teams will look quite different when they meet next season. Villanova will no longer have Mikal Bridges and Jalen Brunson, and could be without title game hero Donte DiVicenzo and versatile big man Omari Spellman.

Michigan, meanwhile, has lost star Mo Wagner to the NBA. Swingman Charles Matthews is still testing the waters, and steady guard Muhammad-Ali Abdur-Rahkman has graduated.

A date and time for this rematch will be announced later this offseason.
