The 2019 college football season kicked off last weekend with a "Week 0" contest between in-state rivals Florida and Miami.

The Gators took down the Hurricanes in a comeback win, giving college football fans everywhere a great appetizer for the action to come this weekend.

Week 1 kicks off this week with handful of games on Thursday night and continues throughout the weekend on Sunday night.

The Big Ten gets its season started Thursday night as Minnesota faces off against South Dakota State. As for the rest of the conference, every other program plays on Friday or Saturday.

College football analyst and former head coach Dave Wannstedt revealed his power rankings for the conference this week. He likes Michigan in the Big Ten East and Iowa in the Big Ten West.

Here's his picks.

EAST
1. Michigan
2. Ohio State
3. Michigan State
4. Penn State
5. Indiana
6. Maryland
7. Rutgers

WEST
1. Iowa
2. Wisconsin
3. Northwestern
4. Nebraska
5. Purdue
6. Minnesota
7. Illinois

Michigan over Ohio State is a popular pick with Urban Meyer no longer on the sidelines for the Buckeyes.

Meanwhile in the West, there appears to be an opening for one of Iowa, Nebraska, Northwestern or Wisconsin to step up. Wannstedt is going with the Hawkeyes to fill the void.

Will Iowa take on Michigan in the Big Ten title game? Stay tuned.
