Every cycle, five-star recruits often find their way into the Big Ten.

They usually wind up at Ohio State, Michigan or Penn State. In 2017, Iowa snagged a rare five-star in defensive end A.J. Epenesa.

But Illinois? The Illini never nab five-stars. In a quick glance at the 247Sports database for Illinois, you can see they haven't signed one this century.

Four-star recruits choose the Illini every so often, but five stars? Never.

That is until today. St. Louis (MO) Trinity Catholic five-star athlete Isaiah Williams announced his commitment to Illinois. this morning via video.

Williams chose the Illini from a list of 40-plus offers.

The secret to landing Williams? Well, it might be the fact they hired his old coach as an assistant. Hey, whatever works.

Illinois has three commits so far in the 2019 class, and they are three quality prospects.
