This is the first game Illinois has lost after a five game winning streak that began on February 7th by beating top-ranked Indiana. Illinois led the first half by as much as eight points, eventually going into the break with a three point advantage.

But Michigan quickly took the lead early in the second half behind strong performances from both Trey Burke and Glenn Robinson III. With 7:55 left, Illinois' Tyler Griffey made a 3-pointer which put the Illini behind, 51-47. A 9-0 run by the Wolverines over the next three minutes put the game out of reach, giving Michigan its tenth Big Ten victory.
