Ohio State has beaten Indiana 24 times in a row. That’s quite the winning streak. But that hasn’t stopped the Hoosiers from making it a competitive game in recent history.
In last year’s match-up the Buckeyes went into the half with a slim 28-20 lead. They outscored Indiana 21-6 in the second half. In 2017, the Hoosiers led 14-13 at halftime. But once again, Ohio State dominated the second half en route to a 49-21 blowout.
The Hoosiers have something figured out in regards to first half play versus the Buckeyes. But it’s the second half adjustments which leads Ohio State to dominant victories.
Former Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer knows all about the Buckeyes’ first half struggles versus Indiana. He spoke about that in a preview of the upcoming game on Saturday.
“Indiana’s got very good players in certain positions,” Meyer said. “They could certainly play at Ohio State. I can tell you Ohio State respects Indiana because of they way they play us, and it’s every year…Indiana gives you fits.”
Indiana has clearly earned the respect of Meyer. It looks like the Buckeyes never take the Hoosiers for granted.
“We’ve had battles with Indiana over the years,” Meyer said. “Even when we were favorites, prohibitive favorites, especially going there. It’s not an easy place to play.”
Entering the match-up, Ohio State is a 17.5 point favorite. This will be the Buckeyes’ first game away from home this season.
Will Indiana once again give Ohio State trouble? Or will the Buckeyes put away the Hoosiers early en route to another dominant win?
