In just a few hours, Iowa offensive tackle Tristan Wirfs will be selected in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

But while Wirfs won't be able to enjoy a red carpet ceremony or spend time in the green room, he's working to make the night as memorable as possible. In a video shared by the NFL Instagram account, Wirfs had a surprise for his mother.

Wirfs rolled out an actual red carpet onto the lawn of their home for his mother to walk out on. At the end of the carpet was Wirfs, carrying a bouquet of flowers that he gave to her. The two then embrace for a hug.

The former Iowa star is considered one of the top four offensive linemen in the draft. He is almost assured to go in the top ten and may even go in the top five.

Wirfs has had a long and difficult road to his impending NFL stardom. His mother was his only parent as he grew up in a low-income neighborhood in Iowa.

But after proving himself as a star athlete in football, wrestling and track and field in high school, he got a scholarship to Iowa and quickly became a dominant force on the Hawkeyes offensive line.

Wirfs earned first-team All-Big Ten honors and was named the Big Ten Offensive Lineman of the Year in 2019.

And soon after he's draft, he'll sign on the dotted line and become a very wealthy young man.

Good luck Tristan!
