On Saturday afternoon, Iowa and Iowa State started their game at 4:00 p.m. ET, but after a series of weather delays, were playing past 10:00 p.m. ET.
Unfortunately Iowa State fans, the game just ended in heartbreaking fashion.
Trailing 18-17, the Cyclones did everything right. They stopped Iowa for a three-and-out, leaving just over a minute left on the clock.
The Hawkeyes punted the ball away, and it looked like the Cyclones would have one last possession with a chance to win the game in front of the home crowd.
Instead, the fans at Ames watched in horror as two of their players collided as the ball careened straight to an Iowa player.
