Iowa Suspends Manny Rugamba For Opener Against Wyoming

A Hawkeye defender has been suspended.

Iowa's secondary will be down a man when the team takes on Wyoming in the opening week of the season.

Kirk Ferentz spoke with reporters on Tuesday and announced that sophomore Manny Rugamba has been suspended for the Week 1 matchup.

According to Chad Leistikow, Rugamba was suspended for a violation of team rules.

Rugamba was one of 10 true freshman to see action last season, and played in 12 games for Iowa during the 2016 campaign.

Rugamba racked up 19 tackles, two interceptions and defending six passes. He was the Big Ten’s co-Freshman of the Week after the Hawkeyes beat Michigan.

Iowa will host Wyoming on Sept. 2.
