The No. 23 Iowa Hawkeyes have an extremely favorable matchup this weekend against the Savannah State Tigers. However, head coach Fran McCaffery will be without impact freshman Connor McCaffery on Saturday.

It turns out that McCaffery suffered the injury in the second half of the team's victory over Western Carolina. The freshman forward took an inadvertent elbow to the face from his teammate Tyler Cook.

With McCaffery still in concussion protocol for this weekend, the Hawkeyes announced that their top player off the bench will be out of action.

McCaffery is averaging 7.5 points and a team-high 3.5 assists per game. Iowa will have more than enough talent to defeat Savanah State, as the trio of Cook, Luka Garza and Joe Wieskamp combine to score 39.5 points per contest. The expectation is that McCaffery will return to the Hawkeyes next weekend against the Bryant Bulldogs.

Iowa and Savannah State will tip off at 1:00 p.m. ET from Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
