It Looks Like Ex-Iowa Star George Kittle Will Be The 49ers' Starting TE As A Rookie

He's had an impressive preseason.

Back in April, the San Francisco 49ers spent a fifth-round pick on tight end George Kittle out of Iowa.

Today, the rookie appeared to lock up a starting job.

The 49ers shipped off Vance McDonald, Kittle's main competition at tight end, to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

With the move, Kittle is now listed as the team's starting tight end on the 49ers' official website.

Kittle has made three receptions for 33 yards and a touchdown in preseason action. He hauled in 10 touchdowns over his final two seasons at Iowa.

Along with Kittle, another Hawkeye rookie, quarterback C.J. Beathard, has played well in San Fran this summer.
