Late-rising recruits tend to pop up following the early signing period, which has taken place in each of the last two years. Birmingham, Ala. defensive end Michael Lockhart has flown under the radar, but is starting to get some attention.
Lockhart has not been rated by every recruiting site, but 247Sports has logged its own evaluation of him.
The site has him as a three-star defensive end, and No. 102 among strong-side defensive ends in the class of 2019.
He is the No. 1,620 player in the country, and No. 64 in Alabama.
It doesn’t sound like his home-state Crimson Tide or Tigers are after him, but he will probably wind up with a Power Five program come National Signing Day in a few weeks.
He has already outlined two upcoming visits, with a few schools vying for the final spot.
Michael Lockhart will head to North Carolina this weekend, and Nebraska the following weekend.
Colorado, Georgia Tech, Iowa, Kansas, Penn State, TCU, and Virginia are also involved.
From Rivals’ Blair Sanderson:
Alabama DE Mike Lockhart tells me he has official visits scheduled to UNC on 1/11 & Nebraska on 1/18. Several schools still in the mix for a possible 1/25 visit including Iowa, PSU, Colorado, GT, TCU, Kansas & UVA @the205mike @HeelIllustrated @NateClouse https://t.co/VXdZWkWrAP

Many of the offers have come in just the last few weeks, so this should be one to watch down the stretch toward signing day, as schools prepare to round out their classes.
