Maryland AD Kevin Anderson Placed On Leave, Expected To Be "Out"

Maryland AD Kevin Anderson is out, according to a number of reports.

According to a number of reports, Maryland Athletic Director Kevin Anderson, who has been with the Terrapins since 2010, was placed on administrative leave back on October 1 and is not expected to be reinstated. Anderson could be on leave until August 2018.

According to Bobby Blanco of MASNsports.com, Anderson's severance package was negotiated with help from Under Armour CEO Kevin Plank. Blanco also reports that Anderson's ousting could have to do with him flirting with Cal for its open AD position.

Per ESPN's Adam Rittenberg:

Maryland athletic director Kevin Anderson has been placed on leave, a university spokesman confirmed to ESPN. Anderson is still employed by the university but an announcement on his status is expected shortly. MASNsports.com reported Saturday that Anderson will be fired but remain on leave through August 2018.

Maryland has yet to release an official statement. We'll keep you updated.

Update: Maryland has released a statement denying that Anderson is out.

Considering the administrative leave report, there is a chance that all of the above is true and Maryland is being technical, or there has been some serious miscommunication to a number of typically reputable outlets. We'll update as we learn more.
