Although the third weekend of the season didn’t present the most intriguing matchups, there have already been a few upsets on the afternoon. The first top 25 upset came from the Maryland-Temple game at Lincoln Financial Field.
Maryland looked dominant in its first two games of the season, steamrolling past Howard and Syracuse. Mike Locksley relied heavily on quarterback Josh Jackson and running back Anthony McFarland Jr. during the first two weeks.
While McFarland had another strong performance on the ground, Jackson struggled against Temple’s defense. He completed only 15-of-38 pass attempts for 183 yards, one touchdown and an interception.
Temple played sloppy football in the first half of this game, but a late touchdown pass from Anthony Russo sealed the deal for Rod Carey’s squad.
The Terrapins had an opportunity with time running out in the fourth quarter to keep their undefeated season alive. However, they just couldn’t get past the Owls’ stout defense.
It’ll go down as our first top 25 upset of the weekend.
