Maryland's Alex Len, Projected As A Lottery Pick, Out 4-6 Months After Ankle Surgery

Unfortunate.

Former Maryland center Alex Len, who declared for the NBA Draft just three weeks ago, had surgery for a stress fracture in his left ankle this week, according to the Baltimore Sun. He is expected to miss 4-6 months in recovery.

Len was projected as a lottery pick for the upcoming draft, set for June 27th, before the setback. Whether teams will still view the 7-foot Ukrainian national as worthy of such a high selection will be one of the more interesting story lines leading up to the event. Since the deadline has passed for Len to be able to return to school for his senior season, the timing is unfortunate for the former Terrapins star.

Len averaged 11.9 points and 7.8 rebounds for the Terps this past season.
