A Colorado brewery has found a cool way to honor former Michigan State punter Mike Sadler.
Jagged Mountain Brewery, based in Denver, Colorado, has found an awesome way to honor former Michigan State punter Mike Sadler, who tragically died in a car crash in Wisconsin last summer. On June 2, the brewery will unveil a new beer titled "Hey Diddle Diddle" to celebrate his life.
Why the name? "Hey Diddle Diddle" was the name of the trick play Sadler ran to perfection against Iowa back in 2013. The brewery says that Sadler liked to experiment with homebrewing, hence the decision to give him his own beer.
Come join us for a special event in the taproom from 5-9pm on, Friday, June 2, when we release Hey Diddle Diddle – a craft beer made in honor of Michael Sadler, the nationally-known punter from Michigan State University who was killed in a tragic car accident last July. Mike was a gifted All-American punter, but also broke national academic records (he was the first four-time Academic All-American in MSU history) while demonstrating outstanding character and sense of humor. Major programs, awards, and tributes are being created to keep his unique legacy alive.
Here's video of Sadler executing the play.
According to the Detroit Free Press, the brewery plans to donate $1 from every pint to the Mike Sadler Foundation. The brewery is co-owned by a Michigan State alum named RJ Banat.
If you're wondering, the beer is an "All-American wheat ale."
