Michigan State had its 13-game win streak snapped today and lost for the first time in 22 Big Ten games as the No. 6 Spartans fell to Purdue 73-63.
Purdue has now won five games in a row, and the Boilermakers seem to have righted the ship after starting 9-6. Dick Vitale is taking notice.
ESPN's longtime analyst tweeted out his thoughts on the upset win a little while ago.
"Yes @BoilerBall with a major W over outstanding @MSU_Basketball 73-63 behind balanced attack & strong interior D @CoachPainter ‘s Boilers keep getting better & better. @B1GMBBall is really strong!" he wrote.
The Big Ten appears to be a three-team race right now. Michigan State still leads the pack at 9-1 in league play, followed by Michigan at 8-1.
Purdue sits only one-and-a-half games back at 7-2 in conference games. All three teams are undefeated at home this season.
Maryland is in fourth with a 7-3 conference mark, but the Terps suffered a disappointing loss to lowly Illinois on Saturday.
