While there are still plenty of games to be played this season, the College Football Playoff picture is starting to take shape. The two Mississippi schools look dominant so far, but they still have a number of tough match-ups in the SEC West, and then face each other in the Egg Bowl at the end of the season. Baylor has the inside track in the Big 12, and remain undefeated after a huge comeback against TCU, and Florida State and Notre Dame face-off this weekend. One of those two undefeated teams will have its playoff hopes knocked down a peg after the game in Tallahassee. Michigan State is still hanging around in the picture as well at 5-1, but one gambling website gives the Spartans the best odds to win the National Championship this season.
VegasInsider.com has Michigan State at 13/2 odds for a championship, ahead of FSU and Mississippi State (7/1), Alabama (8/1), Oklahoma (9/1), and Notre Dame, Ohio State, and Ole Miss (10/1).
Here are the website’s full odds:
While the five undefeated power conference teams would have to be considered more likely if the season ended today, clearly VegasInsider.com likes Michigan State’s odds to run the table and believes that a few of these other teams will drop games and give the Spartans a path into the playoff.
